The Venus Project

The Venus Project is extensively discussed in the film "Zeitgeist Addendum."  The Venus Project is a radical new way to live.  It's a society where everyone wins and strives to eliminate scarcity.  I'm sure that debates about this idea could rage on for hours on end.  I certainly wouldn't mind living in a world like this compared to the one we're going to be living in in a few short years.

Imagine a future with no crime, poverty, money, pollution, advertising, police, lawyers, war, gangs, or food shortages.  It's very hard to believe looking at the world today, but keep in mind that human beings once believed the earth was flat and the centre of the universe.  Some of the best ideas in the history of mankind where laughed and scoffed at when they first appeared.  If we can go from a time of brutal religious oppression to democracy, why can't we make the next step toward true equality?  The only thing that is certain is that we won't be able to fathom the distant future any more than we can return to the distant past.

I would like to mention that over 100,000 people worked on the project that created the nuclear bomb and that it cost billions upon billions of dollars.  Could you imagine what would happen if we took 100,000 of earth's finest minds and gave them billions of dollars and asked them to build the best society possible?  I tend to believe they'd be able to come up with something better than what we put up with today.
